About the Artist

I paint it as I see it.

Inspiration

I feel in touch with nature. I see the potential of light and color. When they work together, I can’t help but be drawn in and to create my own interpretation. The way light and color play on the New England coast, in a grove of lemon trees in Italy, or on a careworn face, inspires and excites my passions.

Medium

I’ve worked in many different types of media and have gone through what my children call “phases,” including being “weird for weeds” as I collected and painted with flowers. I’ve explored pastels, sculpture, weaving and other crafts. However, I always return to my love of oils and the challenges of watercolor.

Background

An eighth-grade commission to decorate the chalkboard for the holidays began a lifelong exploration of artistic expression. My husband gave me my first set of oils, empowering me to paint what I saw. I did see, and I have captured my vision of it all as we lived in Italy, England, and across the US.

“I never find people unattractive. There’s something that makes each of them special: They’ve lived.”
